Radio’s Jim Gearheart, one of a kind

Remembering my long-time radio pal Jim Gearheart who has left the station he put on the map. He was at KIRO in Seattle when I was there at AP. Long before I rode the range with The Jersey Guys in the afternoon, Jim and I took on NJ corruption and idiocy and promoted GRIP (Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians). When Pigs Flew at the Statehouse, Jim and I were there, which is pictured here. Never shrill or obnoxiously partisan, he had experience in life and it showed, a Southern-bred gentleman. Jim addressed issues with historic accuracy and humor. He taught without being preachy. Well read and educated, in a day when many talking heads are recycled politicians, Jim Gearheart is a true broadcast professional knowing how to walk the line between informing and entertaining with responsibility; there never will be another like him. For that I am truly sad but I wish him all the best with thanks for his support over the years and memories of the many times we were in the trenches together. Maybe we’ll work together again.
