Two Congressman from New Jersey squared off on MSNBC’s “UP With Steve Kornacki” Sunday about how qualified Gov. Christie is to be president. Republican Leonard Lance said Christie provided “true leadership” when he got rid of those responsible for the George Washington Bridge incident known as Bridgegate.
Democrat Bill Pascrell said, “I don’t want Chris Christie to be in the position of appointing the next attorney general. I don’t want him to be in the position of appointing the next secretary of state or the next head of the CIA. I think his credibility has been diminished by all of this.”
Lance, a long-time member of the New Jersey Legislature before going to Washington, then moved to what sounded like an endorsement — kind of. “I hope he does run. I think he will be a leading candidate for president. I think he is in the top tier of candidates.”
