Mueller time past, but this is far from over

Keep in mind what you are hearing about is not the Robert Mueller Special Counsel Report, but what Attorney General William Barr says in his four-page letter interpretation summary of the report. Only four partial sentences from the full report are in the letter. Were those four parts the best Barr could find? Others may see it and interpret it differently.

Barr got the report of a two-year investigation Friday afternoon and had conclusions 48 hours later. We don’t know how long the report is.

Barr says Mueller found no conspiracy with Russia regarding the 2016 election — that is good news for the country. Barr himself, a Republican appointed recently by President Trump, decided there was no obstruction of justice. Congress will be the final decider.

Questions:

— When and how much of the Mueller report will public see and how much of the supporting documents? Barr is going to decide.

— If there was no conspiracy, why did so many people lie about various aspects? Trump, Jared Kushner, Mike Pence, others, lied about contacts with Russia. Even as Trump lied he was trying to negotiate for a Trump Tower in Moscow. Others are going to jail for lying.

— Will Mueller be called before Congress and put under oath? Will AG Barr?

— In the end is it better for voters to make the final decision in two years?
— Trump has trashed Mueller for two years. What will he say now?

Mueller was working under a very narrow order to find out about Russian election interference. Just that. No more. Along the way Mueller found evidence of other things, possible crimes, and since it was not in Mueller’s job description, he passed it on to other federal and state investigative bodies.

This is far from over.

It always was the case the Trump clan’s biggest threat comes not from Mueller but from the Southern District of New York and the attorneys general in the states of New York and New Jersey where Trump had most of his business.
