When I was a kid, CBS had a show called “You Are There” hosted by Walter Cronkite. It featured historic events where key figures were interviewed by reporters as if TV existed then. I learned a lot of history.
Was thinking about that during the Jan. 6 Committee hearing today. Nancy Pelosi’s daughter produces documentaries. And she was there with mom that day. I’m used to having news on in the background as I do things. This stopped me cold, held me spellbound. It was “You Are There” but real.
Future historians will be thankful for this.
What floored me was when Trump wouldn’t do anything Pelosi called the governor of Virginia for help. Virginia— seat of the Confederacy — helped saved the Capitol. Oh, the irony.
